The boot trims come off quite easily. They are only a few torx screws and some of them just pull off. It depends really which parts you want to take off.

It might be the battery in the key fob thats low so would suggest replacing that as it eliminates that then. It could of just been a one off aswell as you say it worked fine after that. Its worth keeping an eye on.
