Hi, i totally agree with your thoughts regarding the alternator, and the fact that the battery does not charge well enough to compensate for all the electrical gadgets that are on the car. After contacting Vauxhall direct last week, i had a response from them yesterday. They told me that i do not use the vehicle enough, and that the battery will not hold its charge if i do not use it enough. I did express my thoughts to them that i did not think the alternator was sufficient to power the battery, but they were not interested. Where in the handbook does it stipulate that you have to do x amout of miles in your vehicle. Recently i did a round trip of 120 miles, but still no stop/start. So frustrating. !!! I shall be doing a few trips down south very soon, lets see if that kick starts the stop/start into working..........

Light flashes but nothing turned off ignition turned ignition back on hey presto Eco- mode activated everything shuts off. Every morning since Eco-Mode activates as soon as ignition switched on !!

Hi all. As promised i am just updating you all on this most frustrating issue.

Last week drove over 650 miles over 4 days.
OMG!!! The stop start worked TWICE.

Since then i have drove to Bristol airport and back (round trip of over 300 miles ) .... nothing.

How many miles does one have to drive to get this stop start to work. !!!!!

Its so frustrating, and Vauxhall dont seem to be very interested in solving things.

HELP. !!!!!!!!!!!

Just back from Arnold Clarks, as mine has been so intermittent from day 1. I have been told my the service desk folk there will be a £75 investigation fee if they cannot find the issue. Get this I was asked if I was aware that there is 27 different reasons for it not coming on. My backside the battery is not being charged that is the reason!!

Update got car back and was told need to book in again for full day as fault codes come up & battery 83% .They said faults not fault so I take it there is a Start & Stop issue ? So rebooked for 16th Aug .Brand New car and Fault codes .I suspect my daughters car will be same faults as mine .Her S & S not working either

I've been to my dealers to discuss the non working stop/start and pointed out what other owners were having done to resolve the problem. I was told that there could be many reasons why it did not work such as having air-con on. Even after pointing out I'd just done nearly a 1000 miles in the last three weeks, including two runs of 200 miles, he was still a bit reluctant. However, it is booked in for a check including the battery next Thursday. The service reception seem to be like the receptionists at the doctors and try to put you off. As per usual I was told that the Forums should be treated not too seriously. To which I replied that they seem to be the only place to actually find out what problems owners were having and that Vauxhall are not really interested once they've sold you a car.

Stop/start does not work with the aircon on.
Will not work in auto climate setting(I.e air on con on)
It also does not work with climate controls set to Lo
Also fan must be on position 1 or above
It will work with climate controls set to 14 or above
I have had my Grandland since April and using the above criteria the stop/start works perfectly everytime. It even worked after a short journey from first start!
