Please.... keep us Grandland owners up to date with the results of your August visit to the dealership.
I have just got back from a 500+ round trip. The stop/start actually worked.......... but only 5 times. Was stuck in traffic on the motorway on return, a time when stop/start would have been very useful, but as usual it did not work.......
I have been on to Vauxhall for months about this issue, but get nowhere. My local dealer isnt helpful over this issue either. I must agree with other forum members in saying that once you have purchased the vehicle they dont really seem that bothered about customers problems. I stated to both Vauxhall and dealership that other Grandland owners have stop/start issues, and was told not to take alot of notice of these forums. How else would us Grandland owners have somewhere to air our views and discuss any issues that arise..
my last 5 cars have been Vauxhall, i am thinking maybe its time to look at other manufacturers.

My problem all started when I got a electricle fault warning on the car and got the RAC recovery to check the car, the engineer fouund that the system had numerous faults recorded on the car, at the same time the stop start was not working and I had a warning on my Onstar system that I had a fault with the air bag on the steering. When the garage investigated it they could not find anything wrong with the car and cleared the error messages. The garage done an overnight re-charge on the car and gave it back to me saying the stop start was working. The stop start worked a few times then stopped, I then got Vauxhall customer service involved as I was not preperd to pay £85 to have a check done on the car, Vauxhall agreed to cover the cost of the check.
As AndyB said I to have just returned from a 550 round trip to Alton towers and on return the stop start worked that day but has not worked since. The car was booked in for a service and the investigation, my local Vauxhall garage had my 2018 Grandland x 1.6 diesel Techline nav in for a full week trying to understand why the stop start has stopped working. I also involved Vauxhall customer service and technical team, after 3 days of tests the Vauxhall test team advised the garage to get a similar doner vehicle to compare the results. The response from the technical team is that this is a trait of the Grandland X, that when the battery falls to 75% of its capacity that the stop start will not work. I was advised that the stop start will work if I switch everything off in the car, including the radio.
I was advised to request a field visit from Vauxhall to try and resolve the situation. My point is that I have a carwith a 3 year warranty that has just reached one year old and now has a battery that is either not capable of meeting the demands of the car or the alternator is not putting enough power into the battery to replace what is being used. If I had been told that if I did not drive the car enough that certain features would not work after a while I would never have bought the car. I have advised them that my wife has a 5 year old Mokka 4x4 and the stop start works on it every time. If the air con is on it may stop for a short time then restart the engine but it still works,I hasten to say that my wife does a lot of short journeys.

I will update the site if I get the field visit and hopefully a satisfactory result.

So they electrically conditioned the battery (discharge and recharge) and now after six days the issue has returned.
Any ideas?
I have the same problem, the vauxhall technical team sae this is a trait of the Grandland that if the battery goes below 75% of its capacity then the stop/start will not work.

Grandlad wrote: Wed Nov 21, 2018 6:22 am Rather like others I noticed that sometimes the start/stop wouldn't operate at the beginning of a journey but after a while would begin to operate. On other occasions it would operate right from the start. A bit of observation suggests an answer. If the climate control is set to 'auto' then start/stop operates when the target temperature has been achieved. If the climate control is not set to 'auto' then start/stop operates all the time ECO is set. I think this must be because of conflicting demands for electrical power and if there is any doubt about whether there is enough then stop/start is inhibited. With climate control in 'auto' the demand for power is variable and unpredictable.
Has any one else seen the same?
Vauxhall Technical team have advised me that when the battery reaches 75% of its capacity then the stop start will not work, they say this is a trait of the car.

Kitkat I took the car out this morning and set as you've said above. Start/stop did not work. I'm used to the system that I had on my Mokka X Elite in which the start stop worked 95 % of the time, even with air-con on and auto climate control on. All that happened occasionally was the fan speed would drop. If I had the headlights on then the S/S would not come on. Seems the difference between the Peugeot and Vauxhall systems. Whats the point of a system that needs such very strict conditions to work. Also I've only got to leave the boot up and the doors open whilst packing the car and the ECO system comes up when I go to start the car.
