Wet Belt replacement requires the wiper valance removal.

Removing the wiper valance allows a gap for the inlet manifold to be removed at the rear of the engine. The valance is an essential part of the environmental protection for the wiper motor and other components that nestle in the wiper bulkhead. The valance is split into 2 parts and interlocks with each other and is retained into the bottom seal of the windscreen.

This design... gathers debris and algae. Its essential the channel is cleaned out. Otherwise parts of the valance will not sit correctly on re-assembly.

Tools/Equipment
  • Screwdriver (small flat head)
  • Wiper Remover (BGS 7794)
  • 10 and 16mm Sockets and a selection of extension bars.
  • Torque Wrench
  • Trim Removal tool/slender piece of plastic
  • Microfibre Cloth
  • Soapy water, stiff brush and elbow grease
How to:
1. Remove debris plugs from tops of wiper arms
2. Mark across the blade and stud for alignment on reassembly
3. Using the 16mm socket while holding the wiper blade arm for stability, loosen the wiper bolt and secure the nut.
4. Carefully attach the Wiper Remover ensuring alignment is correct and remove both wiper arms. Inspect the splines on both the arm and motor assembly.
5. Remove the rear Bonnet Seal
6. Using the 10mm Socket, loosen all 4 front bolts of the valance
7. Using the Screwdriver clean out the valance joining clips and start to release them sequentially.
8. Using gentle force at the centre join, start to ease out the joint. Once released, pass fingers behind the panel and the lower edge of the windscreen to release the half panel.
9. To remove the lower scuttle panel there are 2 additional 10mm bolts located to the rear 2//3rds of the bulkhead. loosen those and the whole thing can be removed.

I then proceeded to carefully clean out the window join, as you will see everything wants to roll into it. Once satisfied I cleaned everything and reassembled in the reverse order.
