Hello i have had my grandland now since september and i do believe the fault i have had has been going on pretty much from when i bought the car....

It only happens during the night and at different times every night and goes off a minimum of 3 times..
My car alarm siren goes off consistently but when it goes off it doesn’t have any lights what so ever flashing..

Been back to the garage numerous times have had things changed and nothing works they even had it at a technical centre for nearly 10 weeks just for them to send it back to me in the same condition.

It won’t allow me to add a video to show you guys what it is like either.
any advice on what i should do or if anyone else is experiencing the same problem Thanks

If it's been at the tech center for 10 weeks I would be rejecting the car. That is totally unacceptable.

Daniel,

I can understand what you are going through. Some 12 years ago I got a high end Astra and as part of the purchase I had the alarm fitted as it was not standard fit on that model. I have a garage in a block around the corner from my house. I put the car away on its first night but when I went to get it the next morning there was a note on the garage door to say the alarm had been going on and off all night. After going around the nearby houses to apologize I took the car home and parked it in the drive for the next few nights. The alarm did go off on several occasions for no apparent reason. I took it back to the dealers and they of course could not find a problem. Needless to say in the following weeks the alarm continued to go off. The car went back and I had a car whilst they looked into it. Both the dealer and Vauxhall tech could not find the problem. After many weeks and thanks to the efforts of the dealer service manager, Vauxhall decided to give me a new replacement car to the same spec and at no cost to me except to pay for the road tax. I was told the car would be shipped back to Germany to look at the problem. The new car duly turned up and low and behold the same thing happened with the alarm going off on the first day out. The strange thing was that it appeared to be only after very short trips. In the end the second car went back to the dealer and after a couple of days I was called to ask if they could actually turn the alarm off so it never worked. After checking that it was OK with my insurance company as the immobilizer still worked I told them to do this. However, it still took a further couple of days between Vauxhall Tech and the garage to find the codes that would achieve this. As far as I can understand there was no problem with the same alarm fitted to the sports version of the model of Astra where it was fitted as standard.

I can only wish you luck and as Thomas said reject the car. You clearly have a duff car with numerous technical problems.

Hey guys thanks for the replies i’m heading to the garage tomorrow to speak about the rejection of the car obviously i have never done that before so any tips on how to go about it?
as you can imagine like you have said i’ve had neighbours come to me and complain about the car going off during the night .. the garage also asked me if they could disconnect the siren from my car just to see if it was something in the area sending it a signal to set it off during which time it didn’t go off atall but that meant if i kept it that way if someone stole the car i’d be none the wiser till i realised it had gone so i had them turn it back on...again thanks for the replies

Read something on Zafira Tourer forum sometime ago that one of the members had an issue like yours and what they did if I remember correctly The alarm also has a battery somewhere under the inner arch The battery was changed and no more false alarms
I’m almost certain the Alarm has an internal battery and this could be the problem Funny thing my alarm went of at 7.30am today

There are a few things that can cause this, some of which are not actually a problem with the car. One is the way that ultrasonic sensors work in that they monitor air movement in the car so if air vents are open and there are some high temperature changes air movement in the car can be created and set the alarm off in the same way if you leave a window open. Also if you have a panoramic roof there is usually the option to disable the ultrasonic sensors as if something falls on the roof or walks across it (cats) the sensors can pick this up and register it as movement in the car, the best way is to close the blind when parked.

Yes I know that you can leave vents open and the alarm should not go off but in the right (or wrong conditions, e.g. strong winds) they can.
