Driver's door alignment

Post by Fielders132 » Wed Mar 27, 2019 11:03 am

Hi. I'm new to the forum.

Picked up my nbew Grandland X Elite Nav at the weekend and spotted that the drivers door does not align with the rear door when closed. Really noticeable with the chrome strip at top of the door. I raised my concern with the dealer who checked other Grandlands on their premises and said all had alignment issues so believed it to be a manufacturing fault.

They said they could try to jack the door up but could not guarantee how it would turn out or if something else would be misaligned as a result. I'm not happy living with such a fault but not sure what to do. Has anyone else had similar issues and what action was taken?

Thanks

I took delivery 7 weeks ago, but only noticed this issue recently. Mine went back to dealer for the rear hatch trim (external black plastic passenger side) to be secured properly (or replaced), which was done without any problems. The alignment at bottom of the door seems ok, so have not done anything yet.

Seems to be the case with most Grandlands I have seen, mine is the same and when I walked round the dealers when I was having mine serviced, all of them have the problem to, some were much worse than yours, on some of them the chrome strip even touches when closed.

Mine did catch a little when closing, I just bent it a little to stop that.

I do not think door adjustment is possible, or not very much, I did try adjusting the sticker plate/door catch but there is no adjustment , as the fixing are factory drilled and set

I had this issue, they had it in for about half an hour and realigned- they originally told me it couldn’t be don’t and then realised it was the same on the showroom model.

We have the same problem we were told by our Vauxhall Service Manager that the door had been caught in the wind ! Now in a battle with Vauxhall customer care who don't rate this forum but it's obviously an issue with this model

I collected my new Grandland on the 19th of this month I checked all panel gaps but all were good after reading this thread if they were bad I would have refused the car point blank.

This is encouraging news as my dealership still haven't informed me of what they intend to do even after chasing for over a month now. Do you know what they did exactly to correct the door alignment?

I had this issue on both front doors and the tailgate was also misaligned. Vauxhall had it back for 4 weeks while they fixed it. Apparently the boss of Vauxhall UK got involved and it turns out to be quite a widespread issue. Everything lines up fine now. Just bad quality control by manufacturer and dealer.
