Can anybody tell me if you have to depress the clutch pedal down to start the car . I have an 1.2 SE the salesman told me I had to press the clutch to start which I have done for the passed 3 months ,now it starts every time without depressing it . The manual is not very clear about this .I know nowadays most cars have this feature .

Mine has keyless entry and ignition and yes I have to press the clutch when I start the engine. It prevents you from accidentally starting in gear and probably puts less strain on the starter motor. A message comes up in the driver information display reminding you.

I have an 1.2 sports Nav with ignition key start and don't need to depress the clutch pedal to start.

I have 1.2 petrol SE spec with manual gearbox. This morning I deliberately kept both feet on the floor and turned the ignition key. It started just fine with no footbrake and no clutch pedal depressed.
