Panoramic Roof Cracked Glass

I own a Grandland X Elite Nav 1.2 with panoramic roof. The vehicle is just over 12 months old. inexplicably a crack appeared from the edge stretching half way across the roof. No obvious sign of any impact or vandalism. It seemed to just appear overnight while parked on my driveway.

Has anyone else experienced a similar issue with the panoramic roof?

The first thing I need to know is if the vehicle is still safe to drive if I need to use it. Secondly, how should I go about getting it replaced. Would this come under warranty?

I can't get in touch with my dealer as they are temporarily closed due to COVID-19. I have had an online chat with Vauxhall Customer Care team who have advised me go back to my dealer for inspection when it opens. They couldn't advise me if it was safe to drive.

No doubt it will be an expensive replacement. If it is not covered under Vauxhall warranty I'll need to check if it will be covered under windscreen/glass cover on my comprehensive car insurance.

Any help or information would be greatly appreciated.

Pictures attached.

Window screens yes, might be a similar glass issue? VX paid for mine under warranty. This shouldn't happen.

I have the same issue car only 10 weeks old less than 500 miles on the clock (due to lock down)
I spoke with VX via chat they were able to contact the local dealer who have contacted me and asked for photos which I provided they are now discussing with VX. My view is that this is definitely either a manufacturing fault or occurred during fitting thus covered by warranty. The fault/crack initially slight and not seen in any pre delivery inspections as probably under the seal has extended and opened due to use and on road vibrations.

As this will be an item that will need to be ordered and whilst I am on lockdown I am very keen to get the warranty process started so that once out of lockdown the replacement roof will be at the dealership.

I will keep you advised perhaps you can do the same

Just to let you know that I finally got my cracked panoramic glass roof on my Grandland X assessed at a local Vauxhall dealer. They believed it to be a stress fracture and sent photos to Vauxhall for further assessment. Vauxhall confirmed it to be a stress fracture and that a replacement will be covered under their manufacturer's warranty. Which is very good news.

However, the dealer needs to use a specialist company which is currently closed due to COVID-19. A provisional date has been set for the repair in June subject to COVID-19 and will take approximately a week. I just hope they do a good job.

I'll post an update when the repair is complete.

I’m getting a bit frustrated with VX although first accepted by them as a warranty in Apr there is still no sign of the parts being provided. My local dealer has been keeping me informed and has been chasing the parts still nothing I will be calling VX direct on Monday to try and get an update on delivery, not amused VX with this customer service experience
