I wonder sometimes if I'm too meticulous with things, my car has 1,100 miles on it.

Had you not noticed the noise when shutting down previously?

Always.
I would expect the ecu to generate a fault code if there were an issue. Whilst this isn't a catch-all report system, some issues can be over looked for some reason or other, but still expect the warning.
If one has the radio/audio switched on, this can drown out the 'noise' as the audio stays on until the key is removed and the drivers door opened. The time lapse long enough for the 'noise' to have stopped.

I think that I have pinpointed the noise, if I apply the electric hand brake the noise is much less.

If I wait for it to apply automatic it is more prone.

I believe it to be the electric handbrake applying itself.
