Hi. I have the Grandland X (Unleaded) with 35,000 on the clock (2019 model) been told by a mechanic who have access to behind the scenes information more than we have. Says for the timing belt for mine and I quote “64,000 miles or 6 years, which ever is sooner, then 128,000 miles or 12 years whichever is sooner”
Talk about confusing, but I read that as first 6 years, it needs doing, but then, doesn’t need doing after that for another 12 years. How come? I’m guessing, first belt with the car being new and not broken into to, 6 years, then once the engines bedded itself in, 12 years after that. Normally just had a car that states every 4 years, and simple to understand. Phoned Vauxhall but as always no one technical around to discuss. Awaiting phone call from over a week ago now. Their customer services is pants but that’s a whole new topic lol.
So anyone know if what I’m reading is correct?
Ta.
Timing belt intervals.

Same here just coming up to 6 years 12,000 miles and they said its due soon, £600 ish, I believe that the oil was rotting the belts in the early cars, so Vauxhall did a recall and changed the type of oil, not sure if the belt technology has changed?

Just rang Vauxhall. To again ask. The Vauxhall app is pinging to say due 5 years or 45,000 miles. They confirmed ignore that app ….its 6 years or 64,000 so now not due until Nov 2025. Asked roughly cost. They said £1,500 ….£1,500 that’s right you read that. Are they having a giraffe. Really!!
