Hi All,

Just ordered an Elite and had a couple of questions:

Does CarPlay work on wireless?

Why isn't the Direct Download map destination feature available on the Grandland when it is on other models? This is a feature I have used and found very useful.

TIA
Chris

Join the club! I'm nearly 3 weeks into my wait for mine.

I think Apple CarPlay requires the phone to be connected by cable.

Good question about the direct map download, I'd like the answer to that also.

I suspect the direct download does not work because it is a Peugeot radio, not a GM one in other Vauxhall's. At least you get 5 years free satnav updates because it's Peugeot.

You still need a cable connected on android to use AndroidAuto properly

Answer from OnStar about Destination Download:
Looks like you are right Atariman

Thank you for your recent email.
The design and components used on the Grandland X, make it not compatible with the OnStar Destination Download system.
The OnStar system can not be amended or added to after a vehicle leaves the production line.
However, we can send a Download a Destination to your mobile so you can transfer it to the Navigation system or use Apple/Android Car Player.

Hi Atariman,

My local dealer says the satnav doesn't come with free updates, can you tell me where you got this info from?

Cheers

* Owners of the Opel Crossland X and Grandland X benefit from free map updates each quarter for 5 years starting from the vehicle warranty begin date.

Copied from the 'My vauxhall page' its shown at the bottom of the page and says 'update your navigation map' So I think your dealer is misinformed.

Yes izzyfan is correct, once you buy your car and register on myvauxhall you have the option to update for there, just download and unzip to usb memory stick, and then sit in the car for what seems like ages. At the moment the maps are quarter 4 2017, if you want to keep up-to-date then you need to do the update every quarter

Thanks both, I've informed my dealer

If anyone is interested here is the link to the map downloads https://my.vauxhall.co.uk/myVauxhallApp so you can have the USB stick ready for when your car is delivered :)
