Does your suspension make any noise going over bumps and potholes?

My grandland 1.2 sport is just over a year old and has covered around 18,000 miles (bought it a few weeks ago). Loving it so much, such a relaxed and quiet ride and impressed at the toys! I am aware though of a dull ‘wooden’ knocking sound though everytime I go over bumps and potholes. At first I thought it might be the flex floor bouncing or even the spare wheel, but I’m certain it’s neither. It doesn’t sound serious but I don’t remember having this in other cars I’ve owned. Best described as a dull almost wooden thud, usually when going over bumps on side roads. Nothing on the motorway or smooth roads, and nothing going round bends or otherwise. Maybe it’s normal? Just wanted to check if anyone else has noticed this, or whether I should get it checked out. Bought car from a vauxhall dealer (network Q) so it’s been fully serviced and checked (I assume).

Thanks
Simon

Hi

I had an Insignia a couple of years ago and it developed a knocking / dull thud sound on bumpy roads etc
I took it to the dealers and all it was was a small stone that had wedged itself in a back suspension arm causing it to not function fully.

Just a thought

Sorry I meant it was inside the shock absorber

I don't hear anything odd going over bumps, same model but lower mileage under 11k. Could be something worn in suspension anyway after 18k miles or as Blueyhills says something stuck.
