My heater started blowing only luke warm air out at best. A quick check showed no coolant in the reservoir at all!! I filled the reservoir up yesterday and took it for a drive. Heaters started working again. I had a look at the reservoir again today, empty again.

No warning lights are coming on to say low coolant or anything and it’s not overheated as yet

Anyone else has this?

Maybe it was just so low it needs more coolant? Or it could be a leak? Or something worse.

Any suggestions before I take it down to the garage.

Thanks in advance

Hello Timo

It shouldnt be using that much coolant.
I havent heard of this issue with the Grandland.
How much did you top it up with? It could be it was very low and needed more.
I know some early cars had a recall on the Coolant caps due to issues.

It takes about 3 months and the coolant reservoir is empty again. So it seems to be a slow leak but it
doesn’t appear to be leaking out on to my drive under the car. It was in the garage for its service and they said it could be very hard to find the leak and palmed me off.

I wouldnt accept that response. They need to investigate it.

Is the car still under warranty? If so ask them to contact Vauxhall technical on the issue you are facing.

It’s not a 1.5td by any chance?? I have a 67 plate sport nav 1.5td and my coolant vanishes too. There are no water leaks on engine at all and no leaks on the ground. I’ve bought a new genuine coolant bottle cap and the coolant refill kit which is required to refill the coolant up but need to find the exact diagnostic procedure to complete this job.
Ive asked at local Vauxhall dealer and they want to charge around £150 just to try and diagnose the fault.
I’d rather have a go myself and save a couple of hundred quid, that way I know it’s done properly.
